Army Girls EP Release

Right before they started their set at Double Double Land on Thursday night, Army Girls front woman Carmen Elle walked over to drummer Andy Smith and planted a kiss right on his cheek. They both smiled, and then started to play tracks off of their just-released debut EP, Close to the Bone. It’s a must-hear album for anyone who likes their music raw and gritty but completely sing-along-able. Andy’s energy and Carmen’s bold confidence kick the five songs into full gear in a live setting.

The big crowd pleaser for the night (and a personal favourite) was definitely ‘The Power,’ which got the entire room moving. And just when the duo thought they were done for night, having said their “goodbye”s and “thank you”s and all, the room started chanting “one more song.” Of course, they couldn’t refuse. They played their impromptu encore, gave each other a hug for a job well done, and walked off the stage to meet a line up of friends and fans waiting to give them tons of much deserved praise and congratulations.
