NXNE REVIEW | JANE’S PARTY

There’s something really refreshing about Jane’s Party. I’ll give you a few reasons.

Number one: they’re not looking to slow down any time soon. This set at the ElMo was actually the boys’ third that day – they spent the early afternoon playing a few free shows for anyone who wanted to get their festival on in the sunlight. And we’ve come to learn that days like these aren’t exactly a rarity for this quartet (but you can read more about that in their feature in our latest issue).

Number two: They fall into that realm of bands that don’t rely on anything flashy or out-there; they simply make great music and play it well. Like, really well. And considering the good amount of playful twisting, cute bottom shaking and even manly nods of approval that their pop-centric indie rock induced throughout the crowd on Thursday night, I know wasn’t the only person who appreciated it.

Number three: they really are a cohesive band. While drummer Zach Sutton held things down in the back, up front we saw Devon Richardson, Jeff Giles and Tom Ionescu switching between guitar, bass, keys and even lead vocals. Naturally, each of them have their down distinct sound and vibe, which gave show-goers a look at a new side of the band every time a different JP boy took the lead.
