Hands & Teeth’s Exploring

It’s off the cuff, live and unforgiving – just the image you’d expect from Toronto pop-rockers Hands & Teeth. The new live recording of their single “Exploring” hit the Internet on Oct. 12 as a precursor to their EP and the upcoming From Far and Wide segments.

When I met the five-person ensemble back in Summer 2011, four of them lived together with an upstairs recording studio and a passionate love for food and wine. They were hot off the release of a 2011 debut EP titled, “Enjoy Your Lifestyle,” but were already excited to explore new territory. They pushed the limits of creative new sound and were going for an even louder second album. In the words of Jeff Pinto, the band was their release valve with a “this isn’t for public consumption” feel to it.

This newest video is the perfect glimpse into this unique sound that defines the band and the personalities within it. The From Far and Wide segment features Hands & Teeth in its first episode that is a battle-of-the-bands type show searching to find Canada’s best new independent and original music.

This past year has been nothing but success for the Toronto rockers who released their acclaimed album “Hunting Season” in January 2012 as a follow-up to their EP. The response was explosive with a single appearing in an online ad for McDonald’s to charting across campus radio stations onto mainstream stations like CBC 3 and 2.

Right now the band is fresh off touring out east tearing up stages in Montreal, Fredericton and Halifax as part of the Halifax Pop Explosion Showcase.

The band is currently working on a multimedia album to follow up the success of “Hunting Season.” To fill the void before the new album drops, check out the video for their new single below.
